About Prasiolite
Prasiolite is a rare green form of quartz sometimes known as green amythst. It's heavily marketed as green amythst, but gemological organizations discourage this term because amythst is strictly purple. Commercial production took off around the 1950's after discovering Brazilian amythst turns a clear green when heated to around 500 degrees Celsius.
Under a gemologists polariscope twinned zones create distinct dark optical patterns that look like zebra or tiger stripes. It's one of the rarest gems on earth because an amythst geode must be heated by a near by volcanic intrusion or geothermal vent.
Crystal practitioners use prasiolite for opening the heart chakra, fostering compassion, transmuting negative energy and promoting self acceptance. It's highly valued in crystal healing believed to act as a bridge between physical and spiritual realms.
